WINSTON-SALEM — Concussions are a hot topic in sports today, and they hit close to home.
A Triad high school football player lost his life because of head trauma during a varsity game.
Robert Gfeller said it’s tough when football season rolls around. In 2008, a head-to-head collision in a game took the life of his son, Matthew.
“He was crazy for football. It was in the fourth quarter, Reynolds was getting beat really badly, and it just was a freak accident,” said Childress Institute Executive Director Robert Gfeller.
